The moviemaker Joseph Khalil decided to pay tribute to the afro-american rodeo world directing, during the annual meeting of Grayson, an amazing black and white film of 7 minutes named “Wilcat”. The title refers to the previous name of this small Oklahoma’s town. Pointing his camera to these unknown event and circle, Joseph Khalil aimed to show the discrepancy that exist between the ideas, the beliefs or the image we have about things, and the reality. The film, which also pays tribute to Aunt Janet, the founder of the meeting who passed away last year and is here represented by a white dressed girl, is backed with a soundtrack composed by Flying Lotus who Joseph Khalil had already worked with in 2012 for “Until the Quiet Comes”.

Sat at his desk and led by the director’s questions, Chanel’s artistic director opens himself and retraces his journey, from his childhood to his current loves. A story the creator tells with pencils and pens. The process allows to comprehend both the work, the illustrator’s talent, the vision as the richness of the extraordinary figure. From sketches to witticisms, Karl Lagerfeld then takes us into a voyage through times, codes and fashion.

The Irish dancer and choreographer David Bolger (CoisCéim) had the great idea to invite his mother Madge Bolder (76 years old) to share a strange session of underwater dance with him. Filmed by Conor Horgan with the help of the photo director Richard Kendrick, this moment of tenderness led to a 8-minutes film entitled “Deep End Dance”. The shooting has been made at Marian College where Madge Bolder used to taught swimming, among others to her child’s. “Deep End Dance” thus illustrates that relation of sharing and transmission bringing together their respective worlds. The soundtrack, composed by Michael Fleming, is played by Conor Linehan (piano) and Suzanne Brennan (clarinet). The film has been produced by Wildfire and won the Beat Short-Movie award at Boston’s Irish Film Festival 2011.

Marie Schuller, German moviemaker member of the SHOWstudio agency, has just uploaded a video mash-up that brings together images excerpted from her former films. A great opportunity to write about her work. As Marie Schuller’s production emerges foremost thanks to its richness and eclecticism. Indeed, the director proposes cinematographic forms that change short-movie after short-movie. The unity of her work stands essentially on the atmosphere of her productions, fed by the musical choices, and on the vocation to seduce, peculiar to the fashion world, which she loans her skills to. However, Marie Schuller also relies on a large cultural background which allows her to cover and hijack visual as social codes. Fetishism, burlesque but also surrealism and impressionism, so feed an approach that succeeds in synthesizing past and present, aestheticism and utilitarianism, fashion and art. Discover here after the “Showreel” mash-up as five videos from which are excerpted its images.
