On july 26 started at the Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac Georg Baselitz exhibition Das Negativ. THe german painter presents 25 canvasses and a large sculpture. Pursuing his freeing quest of the representation in front of the content, he pushes the process of inversion to colors to propose negative images. A new way to reveal what the visual habits do not allow to perceive.

The exhibition is divided into three groups. The first one appropriates Bildnis der Eltern II of Otto Dix to which Baselitz transplants the faces of his own parents. A second series portrays the main actors of expressionism (Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Erich Heckel et Edvard Munch), while a last panel refers to Baselitz Russian Paintings (1998-2001), a caricature of his youth works.

Lastly, a catalog written by Eric Derragon backs this event opened to the viewers until August 31st.
