Support The Jan Grarup Project in Somalia
Jan Grarup, danish photographer winner of the Oskar Barnack award 2011, works, for the Noor agency-foundation, on a project entitled “Caught Between War and Famine”. This report, presented at the end of the post in a sliding video, covers the distressing history of Somalia, split for 22 years by war and hunger. Despite his involvement, Jan Grarup hasn’t been able to reach the south of the country, controlled by Al-Shabaab (a satelite of Al-Qaeda), nor in in the Puntland held by the pirates. The photographer so plans a new expedition to relate the existence of these mercenaries and their hostages. A mission, that for security reasons, will cost more than $22000. To finance it, Jan Grarup called for donations and also proposes the sell of 300 signed and numbered prints (30x45cm) of the above picture. Each unit will be sent for 150€.
