Uncontested master of erotic comics, Milo Manara (Italy, 1945) marked the 80′s, notably with Clic, Butterscotch and, in collaboration with Hugo Pratt, Indian Summer or El Gaucho. Crude, explicit drawings, extended by oneiric, shadowy scripts, his world jostle any form of caricatural and routine sexuality to call for carnal amoralism and full body pleasure. An uninhibited approach that frees from the pornographic simplicity through the privilege given to dream, mise-en-scene and imagination. All his works have been reissued by Drugstore which also edits his current series Borgia (script by Jodorowsky).
